Turtle Studios Rules and Protocols for Reopening Plan

May 12, 2021

These Rules and Protocols are necessitated by the Covid-19 Pandemic and may be altered or amended from time to time as the Pentagang may deem appropriate to adjust to the changing nature of the pandemic.

1. Use of the studio is limited to affiliates of Turtle Studios only.  That means no members of the public, no guests, and no family members.

2. Before entering the studio, an affiliate will take his or her own temperature and will not enter if that temperature is at all elevated above normal.  No member is permitted in the studio if not feeling well, if exhibiting any signs of illness including coughing or sneezing (even if potentially due to allergies), or if he/she has interacted within the prior 14 days with someone who is not feeling well.  Anyone who uses the studio who then develops symptoms of Covid-19 or who is diagnosed with covid-19 shall immediately notify studio members by email and shall provide in that notice the date(s) of studio use and names of those at the studio at the same time, to the extent possible.

3. Signing in and out on the official Sign-In sheets is required.

4. No more than 10 people may be in the studio at any given time and they must be spaced so as to ensure social distancing.  To that end, no more than 7 people may be working in the large studio at a time, no more than 2 people may be working in the middle room at a time, and only one person may work in the small studio at a time.  Of the total of 10, no more than 1 may be in the library at a time and no more than 1 may be in the kitchen area at a time.

5. Every member must wear a mask when entering the studio and when walking around in the studio.  The only time a mask may be removed is after setting up and when then working in space which allows for proper social distancing..  Mask and any other personal protection equipment that members either must wear or chose to wear will not be provided by the studio.

6. Social distancing (6’) must be maintained at all times.

7. There will be no communal meals, no sharing of food and no food left out.  No dishes may be left in the sink.  No food is to be left in the refrigerator.

8. Weather permitting, windows will be opened.  If fans are turned on, they will be positioned so as to exhaust air from the studio (pointing toward a window).

9. Every affiliate who uses the space MUST clean up completely before leaving for the day.  That means putting away any and all works in process, cleaning all items used (table tops, scissors, paper cutter, paints, anything that is used communally).  If used, kitchen and bath rooms are to be cleaned every day at the end of the day, by the person(s) who used them.  If more than one person uses the studio in a day, then those using the studio will agree amongst themselves who will be responsible for cleaning of shared spaces and the person(s) who did that cleaning will place note on the sign in sheet noting shared space cleaned.  Cleaning will include all door knobs and handles.

10. You are reminded to turn off lights, fans and air cleaners, and to close windows when leaving the studio.

11. If you wish to donate cleaning products to the studio, it will be appreciated, however, during this pandemic we need products that are effective against a virus.  Please closely check labels.  A product that claims to be effective against bacteria or “germs” is not necessarily effective against a virus.

The purposes of these rules and protocols include prevention of the spread of Covid-19 virus by symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers, and facilitation of tracking in the event of a positive testing of the virus.
