How to Cut a Mat Using the Mat Cutter at TS

Suzanne will show how to:

• measure your artwork

• choose the size and color of mat board that you want

• measure the mat board for cutting

• how to use the mat cutter to cut the opening

• how to attach your artwork to the mat

There will be random pieces of mat board to practice on.

You are welcome to bring a small (up to “8x10”) artwork you would like to cut a mat for. BYO mat board or use one of our pieces.

Pro Tip!!

If you go to a frame store (I always have luck at big picture framing in Arlington or Belmont) and ask for the mat board scraps they are throwing out they will give you a bag of mat board leftovers. Perfectly good mat board, saved from the recycling bin!
